The Mountain Makins Festival is Morristown Tennessee's biggest event. The organization that hosts the event is under new management, and they are looking to inject some new life into it. Fortunately, they knew that the best way to get the word out is with an exciting new poster.

The festival takes place in the fall, so the leaf theme has appeared frequently in their posters. The problem is that a leaf doesn’t communicate a lot about the excitement and variety this - or any -festival offers.

What can a leaf communicate? The festival is in Tennessee, so the leaf of the Tulip Poplar was chosen. But that wasn’t enough. While observing the intricate architecture of leaves and the infinite patterns the veins make, the notion to illustrate things one might find at the festival with them was born.
