As an owner of a 1974 Karmann Ghia, this is a project I wanted to do since high school. I had been doing sketches here and there for almost fifteen years and finally came up with a design I liked.

The original Karmann Ghia was arguably one of the most beautiful cars ever built. It was also the butter on Volkswagens bread for nineteen years. Much as the 55-74 Ghia was an affordable Porsche 356, I envision the redesign as being a bargain 911 with a faithfully rear mounted engine. Now that VW owns a controlling interest in Porsche, they might just get that Boxer engine they’ve been eying since the nineties.
